LIONS - APRIL 2015
For Saint George's Day (Sant Jordi) you could get your children to make mini books, either to tell the story of Sant Jordi, or to back up whatever topic you are working on at the moment.
If you are revising physical descriptions go to
http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/fun-games/spot-the-dragon and there is a great activity to "Spot the Dragon"
If you go to http://learnenglishkids.britishcouncil.org/en/short-stories/george-and-the-dragon
you have an animated story of Saint George and the Dragon and a couple of interactive activities to go with it. You will probably have to prepare the vocabulary ie: knight, beforehand.
Holiday poster
Another
idea for Lions would be to make a poster, in groups of 2 or 3, of a perfect
holiday – using “there is”, “there are”, adjectives (hot, cold, quiet etc) ,
places, geographical locations, can/can’t(do something)
Then
when the posters are finished they write a list of things (5 maybe) of things
they want to do in the Summer. (I want to …….) and then they all read all the
posters, which can be stuck up around the class and decide which holiday (but
NOT their own) would most suit them.
There are some worksheets to go with this idea on the wiki at
Kim’s game
This
is a great way of practising “there is” and “there are"
1.
Make
a small collection of about 10 everyday objects (some pencils, some rubbers, a
pair of scissors, a coin etc)
2.
Show
the class and make sure they know how to say everything.
3.
Hide
the objects in a bag.
4.
Students
must write down the ten objects from memory (they can do this in pairs)
5.
Get
them to dictate to you what is in the bag. “There is a…………”, “There are some/6
……….”
6.
As
they dictate you write the correct sentences on the board.
7.
Students
correct their own sentences.
