You can play bingo then cut out the images and stick them onto the sheet with I like and don't like columns. After that you can get students to discover, in pairs, what their partner likes or doesn't like (Do you like........?)

For Lower Primaries the emphasis will be on clothes rather than the playwright.

·       Brainstorm clothes. Play a flashcard game to revise.
Make sure you come up with

dress
hat
trousers
jacket
shoes
scarF
  • Show a picture of a boy and girl or man and woman with the above clothes.(Seee attached)
    Elicit the vocabulary again.
    What’s he/she wearing ?”
    “Who’s wearing a…………?”(with the students’ own clothes)
    “Is Pablo wearing a ....…?”
  • Show a picture of the Elizabethan man and woman.
                    “What’s he/she wearing ?”
  • Compare with previous pictures of modern dress.   
                   What’s this ? --à dress, trousers, hat, jacket, shoes

                                 Teach “ruff”
  •  wkst A1 Elizabethan clothes.If the children can’t read, do a colour dictation
                       “Colour the dress yellow” etc.
if the children can read, they join the words to the pictures.
Art &Craft section of the project

  1. cut out the doll wkst B1+B”(they choose if they want a man or a woman)
  2. Cut out the clothes and dress the doll by gluing the clothes onto the doll.
  3. Using the A3 sheet of Elizabethan clothes and the photocopy from before, to give ideas, draw the face, decorate the clothes and colour(SEE BELOW).
  4. Make a frieze with all the figures.

FLASHCARDS FOR DRESS, HAT, TROUSERS, JACKET, SHOES, SCARF.

Photos of modern dress (x2)

Photo of Elizabethan dress (x1)

Worksheets A1, B1, B2, B3

Scissors, cooured pencils, glue, coloured scraps of paper

Optional. Sequins, gold and silver paper.



  • To decorate the clothing you can use coloured pencils , gold and silver paper, material from old dresses, or other clothing, felt pens _ whatever is best for your classroom situation.
  • When the dolls are complete they should be be quite colourful, and put all together theywill make a very attractive frieze.
