Here you have a one hour lesson plan for a HALLOWEEN class
Build up a dialogue for a weather forecast. Elicit what the weather person is going to say, have two in the studio and students practise the dialogue in open and then closed pairs before showing their weather programme to the class. You could decorate the classroom wall as a weather map and video the presentations, making your own version of the weather forecast on the television.

Each child has one of the members of the family to work on and this all comes together in a big family poster to decorate the classroom. Let them draw their members of the family.

Two videos to revise the o’clocks
You can play the video in silence and get the kids to say the words, and then play it with sound.
Use the same method as above, leaving in the drumming and then pausing before the elephant says the time.
This one has got the 5,10, quarter, half past, 20, 25 and again, if you play it in silence you can get your kids to tell you the time. You could make it into a team competition.

You have a Halloween lesson at the back of Find Out 4
“Which witch is which” song. This has a good chorus. There are three witches in the song who are identical. Their names are Matilda, Adora and Wanda. Vocabulary: family/mother, father, sister, brother
physical description/body parts.
Here you will find some riddles for Halloween on the bcnprimary.pbworks.com site.monsterriddles[1](1).doc
There are Halloween flashcards on the LearnEnglishKids site and some big flashcards on the bcnprimary.pbworks.com site bighalloweenflashcards[1].doc
Another site, (you will LOVE this one)where you will find some fantastic masks and things for kids to make for Halloween is
Go to accuweather.com and go to different places that the children in the class decide and they tell you what time it is there and what the weather is like there.
You can use the worksheet that I have prepared for this if you go to
You can get them to tell you today's date as well.

To make daily routines a little bit more interesting you can get your students to invent a monster (or Munster) family, as a whole class or in groups of four or five. They decide on the members of the family, names, age, birthdays, what they wear, what they eat etc. Also the school timetables of the children in the family, what each person’s routine is each day (this can be fun ! - let the children’s imagination work a bit here, don’t just keep to get up and get dressed etc !!!!)
You can also find some monster routines (see pictures) on the wiki at

You have some big letters to colour in, fantastic to make a decoration for the class.
Give out the letters without telling the children what they spell, they colour them in and then try to guess what they can spell out.
Give them five minutes to spell out as many different words as possible.
Give them five minutes to spell out as many different words as possible.
Spell C H R I S T M A S and use this to decorate the class !!!
They are on the wiki at http://bcnprimary.pbworks.com/w/browse/#view=ViewFolder¶m=CHRISTMAS%20ABC
An old favourite are the craft activities on the Enchanted Learning site (Themes: reindeer, wreaths, stars, socks, trees, snowmen, presents, moon etc)

SPRING TERM
JANUARY 2015
You are probably in the middle of teaching Present Simple at the moment. Kids love writing weird routines about monsters and strange people (Dracula, Elsa in Frozen etc) There is an example of a character called Square on the wiki, which is in comic form.
