Lesson plan – 1 hour.
1.    Find a “Hello” song in a class CD/video or on Internet, that is easy to sing, and have it playing as the children arrive.
2.    Greet the children as they come in and sit them where you want them to sit.
A tight cirlcle on the floor works well
     3.  Play the hello song again and get them to join in. Play this each time they arrive.
4.    Introduce yourself, and ask the students names. Learn them quickly, go over
Them again if necessary and put sticky labels on kids jumpers with their names.  Have a soft ball or rolled up paper and throw it to one student, saying your name and theirs. They gently throw it to another student and say their name and the other students name . Do this till you and they know the names. Offsite not quite so necessary as they already know each other.

Now build up the language, starting by giving the example yourself.
·        I’m …..(name) throw the ball, and student 2 copies, take in turns around the circle.
THEN
·        I’m …..(name) I’m …..(age)
·        Check counting (play game of mistakes)
·        ELICIT WORDS ON THE BOARD FOR THE FOLLOWING CATERGORIES.  (animals, colours, food, sport.......)
·        I’m ……I’m ……, I like …………….

·        Write my name on B/B and elicit the whole sentence.
·        Do the same with age and like.
            ..........Gill
            ..........60
            ..........chocolate and cats
Write each part in a different colour.
On first page of exercise book,
  My name’s/I’m ..........................................
  I’m.............................................................(age)
  I like ..........................................................
Then draw a self portrait.

DAYS OF THE WEEK
http://displays.tpet.co.uk/?resource=88#/ViewResource/id88
On this link you can find some coloured pencils with the days of the week, to practise colours and days at the same time.
What colour is Wednesday ?
Which day is blue ?
Then you can get them to draw a comic strip for each day of their week. Something like this.

HAVE GOT/body  (thank you Philippa)

  • This is an example of a writing task that you can do to consolidate have got + body parts.
  • You can easily adapt this to a Halloween topic by getting your students to describe a Halloween character of their choice. (witch, ghost, Frankenstein, vampire etc)
  • Then maybe they can read their descriptions to the rest of the class, who then have to guess which character the description applies to.
  • Or you can use Philippa's chart for students to fill in (mingling) pairs.

HALLOWEEN

Read a story and as you tell the story you illustrate it by cutting out a piece of card (see story and photos) and in the end a magic surprise !!!!

You can then read the story again and get the children to cut out the card following what the witch does, and thus making their pumpkin faces.
