ESTABLISH ROUTINES FROM THE FIRST DAY try to keep to the same routine each class. Each teacher will have their own strategies, but ask if you need help.
1.    COMING IN
2.    GETTING QUIET
3.    CHANGING ACTIVITY
4.    ATTRACTING ATTENTION
5.    CLEARING UP

Revision
·        Greetings
·        My favourite colour, food, animal
·        Numbers 1 - 10

Lesson plan
1.    Find a “Hello” song in a class CD/video or on Internet, that is easy to sing, and have it playing as the children arrive.
2.    Greet the children as they come in and sit them where you want them to sit.
A tight cirlcle on the floor works well
     3.  Play the hello song again and get them to join in. Play this each time they arrive.
4.    Introduce yourself, and ask the students names. Learn them quickly, go over
Them again if necessary and put sticky labels on kids jumpers with their names.  Have a soft ball or rolled up paper and throw it to one student, saying your name and theirs. They gently throw it to another student and say their name and the other students. Do this till you and they know the names. Offsite not quite so necessary as they already know each other.

5.    Play colour bingo.
6.    Do a colour dictation. (Number 5 is red, number six is yellow)
7.    Do a game on LearnEnlgishKids, or a game from the list of warmers/settlers.
8.    Read a story and elicit the colours.
9.    Play a goodbye song SUGGESTION  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXzzzTknmKk

SCHOOL materials
To teach school materials you can get the children to draw what they have in their school bags, using the worksheet below. There are two levels, one with help using "I've got" and the other one with no help. You can also find copies of these on the wiki at
http://bcnprimary.pbworks.com/w/browse/#view=ViewFolder&param=School

You can also use this an information gap activity, giving each student two copies of the bag. They draw five classroom objects (or however many you decide) in secret and then ask their partner "Have you got a pencil ? As they discover what objects their partner has they draw them in the second bag and then compare at the end to see if they are the same.

Another way to practise school material is to do a colour dictation, using the worksheet below (also on the wiki at http://bcnprimary.pbworks.com/w/browse/#view=ViewFolder&param=school%20material%20lesson%20plan )
Teacher: The glue is red (or you can say two colours).
Pablo, what colour are the scissors?
Pablo:     Yellow.
Teacher:  The scissors are yellow.

All students colour in the objects following the instructions.
